Ruislip Lido – Council forced to release report

On May 23, 2011, in Ruislip Lido, by Peter Silverman

In April 2010 Vicky Brownlee, Chair of the Friends of Ruislip Lido stated on their web site We are awaiting sight of the environmental report into the water level and quality. Until this is reviewed it is unclear how many of the the proposals are actually feasible.

However their  request  to see the report was turned down by the Council.

I applied for a copy in May and was also turned down .  I complained to the Information Commissioner, the governement department that oversees compliance with  freedom of information  legislation, and he has now issued a Decision Notice requiring them to release it to me within 35 days.

I have written to our MP, Nick Hurd, to complain about both the Council for their dogged  refusal to release the document and for the inordinate delay by the Information Commissioner in resolving my complaint (10 months!!!).

Th Borough Solicitor has now said the council is considering appealing the Information Commissioner’s decision.
