Dear Mr Silverman,

Thank you for alerting me to the recent update of your web site www.hillingdon-watch.org.uk

I would like to express my support, and that of the Liberal Democrats, for the work you are doing.

I am particularly concerned by the failings in the management of Northwood Cemetery, and the Borough’s Green Spaces in general, which you have exposed.

The Council’s refusal to provide you with information following last April’s Gazette article is in blatant disregard for their obligations under the Freedom Of Information Act.

Why is it that the Council seem to find it impossible to have an intelligent dialogue with someone who is trying to help them?

I agree with you wholeheartedly that the Council must establish a proper system for monitoring the performance of their contractors against the contract and stop paying for work that is not being carried out.

Please keep up the good work.

Yours Sincerely

Mike Cox

Peter,

As long as I have been a member of Hillingdon Council, (since 1993) I have
advocated working closely with residents in driving up standards and raising
efficiency - something in which we have a shared interest. After all, I too am a
resident and a council tax payer.

When there are issues with grounds maintenance and street cleansing,
I have never allowed my membership of the administration to stop me from
saying so - and endeavouring to improve the situation - it is vital that every
elected member does this.

You have raised some serious challenges to the council over the years,
some of which are included on your website. Whilst I have not always
agreed with you, I do not doubt that you are motivated only by a
desire to improve the area in which we all live, and that is very public
spirited.

I do think your challenges and criticisms would carry more weight, if on
occasions, you were prepared to give credit for a job well done. My
postbag tells me that increasingly the council does do a good job in
a number of areas, but your website does not reflect this from what
I can see.

I look forward to going on working with you, as one of your
elected representatives in West Ruislip ward - something which
has always been a great privilege.

With best wishes,

Philip.
